I have a lot of shells. Using them around my home reminds me of my happy place - the beach.
We are a beach bum family and I love to wander down the beach at the water's edge looking for shells. Where we go to the beach there is an abundance of the large white clam shells so I have lots of those. Maybe you do too. I know they make great ashtrays - remember that? Again, showing my age. But what else can you do with them?
Here's two ideas.
DESIGN IDEA - I have found they look great in my garden and in pots. In my garden they take the place of mulch and look much nicer!
DESIGN IDEA - Along with being a beach bum family we are animal lovers too. In our house our furry pets are cats and as you might know they sometimes will use your plants as their litter box. The advice I have followed is to place aluminum foil on the soil. This does work but it looks pretty ugly. We can't have ugly! So I thought let's try clam shells. It worked and looks very nice indeed.
Of course I needed to store them in a functional and pretty way. Don't they look great in the wire plant holder? Very rusted of course.
Happy shell collecting!
